The Society for Early Modern French Studies is a membership organisation. Membership rights are obtained by payment of an annual subscription.
Like all other organisations, the way in which we collect and process your personal data is subject to the General Data Protection Regulation and other relevant data protection legislation.
The information we collect on you, and the purposes for which we use it, are as follows:
- For the purpose of sending you copies of our Journal, Early Modern French Studies, we collect and retain the mailing address you gave us when you joined the Society, or any updated address you supply to us. This may be your home address if that is the one you gave us.
- The Society makes available to Taylor & Francis, publisher of the Journal, via secure electronic means, a list of the email addresses (and, for those receiving print copies, the postal addresses) of its members prior to publication of each issue within the annual volume.
- For the purpose of membership communications, we collect and retain the email address you have supplied us with. These communications may relate to subscription renewal, the call for papers for our annual conference, conference booking, the Journal or other related matters.
This information is kept on a database by the Membership Secretary and is not shared with other members. When communicating with groups of members, the Membership Secretary aims to do so in such a way that your email address is not visible to other members.
If you do not renew your membership subscription within four months of the due date of 1st September, your personal data is deleted from the database.
We will never share your personal data with any other organisation.
In the Members’ Directory section of the website (www.semfs.org.uk) we display information certain members have given us relating to their employing institutions and key research interests. We will not add your information to this directory without your prior request or permission. We will add, amend or delete any of this information at the request of the member to whom it relates.
If you ever have any concerns about the way in which we process your personal data, please contact the Membership Secretary.
